Sheets for Dorm Bed

I just received something in the mail from IU regarding linens for dorm beds. The letter states that standard sheets do not fit their dorm beds. What about a twin comforter, will this fit? Do most freshman utilize this service?

I don’t have any idea as to the number of freshman that use the service. I do know that extra long fitted twin sheets are listed somewhere on the IUB website as fitting. A twin comforter should be fine. They are longer anyway as is the flat sheet.

I got that too. I think it was from a company that sells stuff, not directly from IU. If you get some extra-long twin sheets at any store, you should be fine.

DD received this today also. The prices seemed reasonable. If time becomes an issue this might be a good way to go.

Yep, get some extra long twin sheets and you’re all set. Got mine last year at Walmart and paid about $10, never looked back. Also, don’t buy the sheets from the service that IU provides. They’re overpriced and not worth the money.

I would have to agree with Young, I bought my sheets from JCP. Any twin XL will work and there are plenty of options out there. I found the mail order option to be pretty pricey especially since the majority of people will only use that size for one year. And the twin comforter will be fine so would a mattress pad if you were interested, but I do know the target has twin XL comforters.

Thanks everyone , I found extra long sheets at Target.

We received 3 pitches in the mail from IU to buy the only sheets “guaranteed to fit,” and when I finally got around to ordering I noticed they never mention what the sheet size is or the dimensions. That made me think they were promoting this because they get a cut of the revenue, and now I’m convinced they do.

They could be more forthcoming about their interest in this business venture.

Any twin XL sheets fit the beds just fine. Regular bedspreads and comforters work perfectly well.

Hey Indiana RA, do all rooms have rugs or carpeting? At orientation my daughter peeked through a window at her dorm (McNutt Crone) and said the room had bare floors. Will rugs be put in, or does she need to bring one?

Tulare- All rooms will be provided with a 6’-9’ rug, they’re just still cleaning them right now. Some people like to bring a second one to cover more floor space or fit their color-scheme, but that’s up to you!
