OK this is weird, and I don’t know if it is related, as I got my shots several days ago (last Tuesday afternoon). My arms were a little sore, but easily manageable with Tylenol. I was unusually tired for 2 days, but was fine by Friday.
Then today (Sunday) I woke up with what I assume was a mild bug (headache, slight nausea, mild upset stomach). Felt really crummy all day. Even a little dizzy when I stood up. Could have been something I ate yesterday, possibly a weird response to a deep tissue massage yesterday (never ever had a problem before), dunno. Was able to drink water so wasn’t dehydrated, and ate some fruit. Finally better so able to get to a dinner invitation (shana tova to those who celebrate!) but wondered if it could possibly have been a delayed response to one of the shots. Seems unlikely, as it was several days ago. Anyone else have a delayed response?
I got the flu shot on Wednesday, and by Friday I felt I was fighting a cold. Saturday I felt better, but the sniffles are back now. I don’t know if a coincidence or not.
I’m hoping to get my Shingrix shot tomorrow afternoon. I have a meeting in the evening…but nothing on Tuesday. Hope that if i get sick…it’s on Tuesday only.
Oh…and I hope they still have the vaccine. On Saturday, they said they had tons!
Got my first Shingrix shot on Friday afternoon. The pharmacist recommended taking pain reliever when I got home (she said taking it in 3-4 hours before the shot would actually have been better) to stave off any symptoms. I had a slightly sore arm and a minor headache that night, but truly nothing to complain about (I have felt much worse after some flu shots). No problems at all over the weekend, which was a pleasant surprise.
I got my shot at Walgreen’s, which just happened to have it in stock. The pharmacy tech told me that their recently updated corporate policy is to call people on the waiting list and let them know that a shipment has arrived, but they do not “hold” the vaccine. If someone comes in and asks for the shot, they can have it.
@jym626 Perhaps there was a link. Was thinking I was home free but now am wondering…
I got my first Shingrix shot today at the CVS in my local Target. The big surprise was…express scripts covered all but $30 of the shot!
On Saturday, the tech and pharmacist told me they had tons of Shingrix in stock. I didn’t want to do this until today just in case I got sick. Well…today, I show up and the tech and pharmacist tell me they have a waiting list of over 200 people…sorry. Say what? I whined a bit. I told them what I had been told on Saturday…and also that I’m a regular customer there and had been told they “weren’t even keeping a wait list anymore”.
So…they gave me the shot! Seriously…?WTH? Get your policies together.
Anyway…I took Advil about 30 minutes prior. I will take it again about 6. I’m hoping for the best!
Oh…and now CVS will call me in two months to get my second shot.
I took advil before I left for the doctor’s so maybe 45 minutes. It’s now been about 3 hours and, so far, nothing but I know pain and/or a reaction might not come on this quickly. Fingers crossed! I will say that I couldn’t believe the nurse…she went on and on about how sick she was after the second injection! Why are you telling me this as I’m getting my first one??
@collage1 we can compare notes. I took my Advil about 12:15 and had the shot about 1. Knock on wood, no issues…yet. I am taking more Advil at about 6:30.
My arm was quite sore and I was so tired yesterday afternoon and evening. Not sure I can attribute that to the shot but it was uncharacteristic and so was my early retirement to bed at 10:30! My arm was so sore that I could not sleep on that side and actually woke up several times in the night when I, apparently, rolled onto that side. My arm is still sore today but seems less so and I don’t feel tired or have any flu-like symptoms so, fingers crossed, my side effects are both manageable and contained to maybe 36 hours.
@thumper1, glad to hear you only have a sore arm! @bookworm, sorry about the cold but wonder if it would have happened without the shot??
And I leave Friday for a wedding in Ohio so I am hopeful for feeling 100%!
Another update here. Two weeks later and my husband is still suffering from shingles. The rash is not gone yet (over 5 weeks) and he still has a lot of pain. He has been well enough to commute to work (was working from home). He keeps saying this is the most horrible sickness ever, and I agree.
Yes, H andD were utterly miserable and in significant pain from their shingles. I’m glad they helped me get diagnosed promptly, put on an antiviral and spared. I’m very sorry for anyone who has to endure the prolonged pain.
