Shipping books to NYU?

Hi, I want to order many of my textbooks from amazon.com, would it be possible for me to ship the books straight to my NYU dorm? Not only would that make packing a lot easier, but it would save a bunch in shipping because I live in Canada. The trouble is I won't be able to officially move in until August 29.

Just make sure to check with the dorm to see if they will accept them if you haven’t arrived yet. Also, you might check out renting them on Chegg.com. It’s sometimes a lot cheaper if you are not planning on keeping the book.

You would have to make sure that the shipping date is after you have arrived. Other than that you would just have it mailed the same as anything else although you would have to know your address and room number.

Right, room number, how would that work? Would the courier just bring it up to my room and leave it out the door, or leave it with the guy working the front desk (if there is one)?

I am an out-of-state student and had a similar question. By researching online and speaking with the school I learned that you can ship books like normal after your move-in date (august 29th). If you ship the book before you move in, they will not hold it for you and it will be returned to sender. The courier leaves big packages at the front desk. You will recieve a small note in your mailbox that says you have a package waiting for you at the front desk. Then you bring the note and your ID to the desk and pick up your package. I plan on not only buying my textbooks online and shipping them to my dorm but I plan on shipping EVERYTHING to my dorm since I am fromy Florida and dont want to pay $50 per bag on the airlines.

I hope this helped. I hope other people can confirm what I have heard.

They got rid of the paper notifications of mail by leaving them in your box. Now you get an email notification and you just gotta bring your id.
