I believed I received a flyer about a company that will ship your stuff from your home to your dorm but now I can't find it.

Does anyone have the company contact info?

Does anyone have any experience using them (is it worth it)?

We are trying to determine if flying and using the shipping service is less costly than renting an SUV and staying in hotels (coming from MA). Parents are going to fly back.

Thanks

You might be thinking of utrucking?

I’d imagine it’s actually cheapest to ship with uhaul or USPS or ups. Utrucking is crazy expensive.

That being said, shipping will still probably be cheaper than driving due to the price of gas.
I’d recommend flying & checking as much as you can, and shipping only minimal stuff.
Pro-tip: those vacuum bags are incredible to help you take advantage of every last bit of space in your luggage.

2nd protip, it may be easier to wait til you’re in stl to buy a lot of things (like shampoo, etc).

You’d be looking for UTrucking: https://www.utrucking.com/fall/shipping.asp

I haven’t used them, as I live within (relatively) easy driving distance, but I do know others who have used it and found it convenient.

Edit: I second what johnson says though ^

When the year is over and you want to store some of your stuff in STL, do NOT use UTrucking. It’s ridiculously expensive. Rent a public storage room with a couple of friends. It’s crazy cheap and very convenient if you have a car.

Thanks for the info. I researched utrucking web site. Prices seem ok. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has used them - how was the service? Did they deliver your boxes to your room? Were they on time?

Definitely planning to pack what i can to take on the flight and buying stuff when we get to stl.

My Dad has friends that live in stl so we could ship ups ground to their home too.

My son used Utrucking for two years. They delivered everything on time (or even early!). As a parent, I found them very convenient.

My son stored stuff with them one summer, and they had some damage due to a rain leak, but I don’t believe it was Utrucking’s fault. I would recommend them for sheer ease of shipping and delivery, if nothing else.

UTrucking’s reliable. I personally do what a previous poster said–rent a storage space and split it among a bunch of people.

If you’re a first year, shipping will probably be cheaper, but driving will be more convenient. You don’t have to pack everything perfectly if you drive down, so it allows you to be lazier.
