I’d like to start shipping my boxes of stuff to Brown as soon as possible… is there any address at Brown to which I can ship stuff now, or sometime this summer?

Wait till you get your PO Box # then ship. You could call the Mail Services & ask them to be sure.

Mail Services will not hold onto your stuff indefinitely all summer. Very, very bad idea. You should contact them about when they'll be establishing their satellite location in Grad Center for receiving packages. Not only is their a fire hazard associated with having so much stuff there early, they simply do not have the storage space for everyone's stuff all at once in the main mail room office nor are they your personal storage center.

If I can't store stuff there for the summer, do you know when in August it's OK to start sending stuff? (Should I contact Mail Services to ask this?)

last year i got some sort of info on this before i arrived. dont remember where or if it was online though

I also don't remember how we learned about this. Considering the school is currently renovating the building where the post office is, perhaps it will be different. I would call Residential Life, perhaps, and ask them.

i know you're excited, i was too, but just wait.

Haha. Well, I'm going to be gone for the summer, so I'm leaving my boxes in my dad's apartment, but I guess he'll just have to leave them stacked in his living room or somewhere.

res life? they deal with dorms. you need mail services.

We sent boxes to Brown in late July/early August & Mail Services held them no problem. They are really nice & helpful there. Call & ask what they suggest.

strange since i specifically remember some sort of notice telling everyone to wait until just before school starts to send anything

Another question... if I want to notify Brown of a change of home address, how do I do it?

It's on Banner

Thanks .

From the Orientation website (www.brown.edu/orientation/):

The University will notify you of your Brown mailbox number in August. See also What is my mailing address?

When packages arrive at Brown, the University Mail Services will place a Notice of Arrival in your campus mailbox with instructions for claiming your package(s).
Whoa. They already moved the mail room to JWW? Really?

i remember reading that it was supposed to be done over the summer

I don't think it's actually been done yet b/c I still get my mail from Faunce but it is supposed to be done by the beginning of Orientation.
