Is this argument seriously happening?

No, I personally think its a great topic because they are looking for you to describe who you really are, then write about that because it represents what you believe and what inspires you. They are looking for a diverse class, and diversity includes those of us who believe that Jesus is our savior.

So to answer your question, continue on the path you are going, and you will be nearly impossible to refuse. I was accepted to Vandy this year, and I’ll tell you, it’s exciting! Good luckq

Woeishe sounds like an arrogant prick who can’t tell that fact about himself. But what do I know? On topic, it’s impossible to tell what will happen in the 2 years between now and applying to Vandy. A little bit of humility will go a long way in life; don’t assume anything right now and just do your best.

Everyone gets so heated on here.

Best of luck to you, rock your tests and keep a level-head, if your familial devotion carries over to your academics and social life, I’m sure you’ll go far.

I guess humility is not a characteristic much prized these days. Thats too bad.

The thread title is wrong in and of itself. Shoo-in for Vanderbilt? Clearly you aren’t too well-versed on admissions at the most competitive colleges. They have more qualified applicants than they do space, so you can’t call it a shoo-in unless you are a sought-after recruit or developmental admit. Then I read the post and saw that you were only a sophomore with projected stats and not real stats. Your race is without question a HUGE hook. If you actually achieve those projected stats and have strong essays/recs/ECs then your chances are pretty high. Colleges love high-scoring URMs. Also, I highly doubt you will end up sticking to the essay topic you have chosen. You’re a SOPHOMORE! You have two years to grow, mature, and have new ideas come to you. I didn’t have my “final” topic until Fall 2010 (I’m a senior). Good luck.

I’m sorry guys the ED Acceptance rate was 32% so I thought that with high scores, good Ecs and being AA will make my chances <90%.
