To be honest with you, it’s a waste of time and money to buy and use other books other than the blue College Board book. The College Board is the maker of the SAT and it would be more beneficial to use that. There are also things on the College Board website to help you prepare for the test such as the SAT Question of the Day. But reviewing for the test won’t get you a 2400.

getting an 800 on both math and Writing should be easy…
Math is basic stuff, for Writing, make sure you know all your grammar, answer all the MC questions correctly and get a level 9 on the essay = 800

Reading’s the problem, but with practice, you’ll be able to attain an 800.

good luck

I got a 2080 on my March test and shooting for a 2400 on the October test

The 2400 books are a waste of time. I bought two and ended up not using them.

For my 2400, I just did practice tests. A crapload of practice tests. And I used Kaplan’s and Blue Book. Kaplan’s sucked. I consistently scored about 50 points lower on CR because the questions are very subjective.

Don’t bother with a tutor. And most of the questions, period, are intuitive. Just understanding how grammar works by being able to do it your self should set you to not miss any more than 1 on Writing. And that one is usually an idiom or questionable parallelism problem.

Studying vocab actually helps, but most people emphasize it way too much just because its the easiest to study. I never bothered with roots or anything, because I was also shooting for the 2400 the whole time and didn’t want to leave anything to guesswork.

And I’m glad you’re willing to study all summer, because that’s basically exactly what I did. Practice test every Saturday, every week.

Also, I do think that anyone who can score 2370+ twice is just as good at the SAT as a 2400 (if they just score it once, there’s an equally good chance that they were just having a lucky day themselves). Intellectually, the difference is minimal.

But psychologically it’s huge. When you tell people you got a perfect score on the SAT, no matter who it is, immediately they respect you. High scores, you have to be talking to someone in the know for them to care. Nobody except my friends knew about 2380, which is almost just as good. I had strangers asking me for advice after the 2400. Whenever anyone wants the 2400, I understand exactly why and I say go for it.

^ You do have a point with that last paragraph there. Whenever I tell a non-high school student I got a 2310, they’re like “What’s it scored out of?” Then I have to explain and by then they’re not really impressed.

Of course, it doesn’t really matter what random people think of your SAT - just colleges. Whenever I’m tempted to wish I had a higher score, I just remind myself that in ten years I’m not even going to be thinking about the SAT.

hey, im in the same boat!, i am retaking a 2220 and trying to get as close to 2400 as possible, and with some luck, i will hopefully get the 2400 when i take the June SAT =D

Im in the same position. I have pretty much the same books and I’m in a kaplan course at my school, none of it really works unless you have 100% focus and motivation to just study, you can buy any book or course you just have to sit and plow through all the topics and keep taking practice tests. Its just how bad you want it.
Im so tired after school but I try so hard to study at least for 45 and also I recommend taking practice tests but only on your worst sections. For me Im bad at math so every saturday I do all the math sections and spend a lot of time reviewing. Good luck hope this helps.
