Shopping List

Post some items (besides clothes, of course) that you're bringing to the dorms for the new school year. That way we can help each other remember things to bring for sure and offer suggestions as well!

Me: scrapbook, Scrabble board, photos, animal-shaped pillows ^^, favorite CDs

Pictures of your parents for when you decide you do miss them after all :)

Im bringing an:
Iron
Ironing board
Alarm clock
desk lamp
printer
and other things
Also, dont forget to bring things to decorate your room so that u can have your own little homey space

S is bringing:

laptop cable lock
senior year yearbook
magnets, pushpins, and lots of dry erase markers
stuff for organizing the cables from his computer and other electronics
books on Excel and Microsoft Project (he's Olin)

Remember: Austerity is bliss.

Take that from a guy who lived in a dorm for high school.

I agree with johnny...I lived in a dorm for high school for four years, and if there's anything I learned about living in a dorm, it's to pack light. If you pack too much, you'll regret it later on...trust me.

Besides, half of the stuff you end up taking with you (extra books, DVD's, etc.) you don't end up using at all.

There is a useful thread on this:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=82285

i thought bringing an iron would be a great idea.... yeah, unless you're obsessed with perfectly ironed clothes (and maybe even if you are), it won't get used. there's always someone on the floor who brings one (or the RA)... make friends with them and borrow it the one day you'll acutally need it :) it saves space...

I don't think I could even safely use an iron anyways. I suck at those types of things. Downy Wrinkle Releaser is my salvation.

a cute rug... bc the floors of my dorm are tile (gross).
a tv, if there's room
a comfy chair
a lamp (bc i hear the one light they provide isnt enough)
