The prompt for a GTech short essay is this:
We challenge our students to “be comfortable being uncomfortable”. Tell us about a time in high school that you felt outside of your comfort zone and the resolution.
I’m having trouble coming up with a topic. Would it be okay to write about transitioning from middle school to high school? I went from a private Catholic school with 50 kids in my grade to a huge public high school with over 2000 students, and everyone went to middle school together.
Or, I was thinking about writing about my first AP class I took sophomore year and how it was so difficult that I’d accepted that I wouldn’t end up with an A in the class. However, I did by some miracle end up with a 92.6 overall thanks to acing my final.
Are either of these topics okay or are they too boring/ not significant enough? I really can’t think of anything to write about for this since my life is not that eventful haha.
I would not write about the AP class and luck getting an A as there is no luck at GT getting an A. Changing schools is being outside of your comfort zone. I think they maybe asking this because Gt is a sink or swim environment with little hand holding. If you have been on an interview it can be uncomfortable. Giving a speech can be uncomfortable. And without a doubt being the new kid in school can be as well. There are a million things that make us uncomfortable.
