Shortline bus anyone?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any info on the shortline bus. I'm going to be a freshman and my cousin has a wedding the saturday after orientation week and it's in the city. Seems like the easiest way is this bus ( i don't want to miss the orientation events on friday). Does anyone know where on north campus i can take the bus, and whether or not it's safe and stuff. I think I'm going to have to take the saturday 1am one to get to the city in time. Any experiences/tips welcome.

The shortline bus picks up from collegetown. You might want to try the campus to campus bus which goes from Cornell’s Ithaca campus to Weill-Cornell Medical College in Manhattan (Upper East Side). It only costs about $25 more each way and you get bigger seats with free wifi and snacks. It’s also much more convienent since it picks up and drops off from north campus.

yeah, i was going to use that one but the times wouldn’t get me to nyc before noon. http://www.coachusa.com/shortline/ss.details.asp?action=Lookup&c1=Ithaca&s1=NY&c2=New+York&s2=NY&resultId=1341&order=&dayFilter=Sa&scheduleChoice=&sitePageName=%2Fshortline%2Fss.details.asp&cbid=656811273384</a> on the schedule it says north campus, and west campus. Hm…is there any other mode of transportation I could consider?

The shortline picks up from North Campus too, right next to RPCC in that parking lot.

It is normally fairly safe, but I’m not so sure about the 1 am one :</p>

Hey I’m taking the shortline bus too. Do you know where it picks up/drops off in NYC?

Port Authority - 41st Street and 8th Avenue

it’s pretty safe - i’ve had friends who’ve done it at 1AM or 4AM. i’ve ridden on the bus before (albeit only during daytime/early night) and it’s very typical greyhound/shortline/coach/type of bus. you’ll be left alone to your own business.

if you’re on a tight time schedule its probably easiest to just take a car service. faster and more comfortable, and you can do it on your own schedule and go straight to wherever you’re going in the city. theres a few ithacan car services that cornell uses to go to the city, very good service, use late model town cars.

thanks for the info everyone. CB1278, do you possibly know how much the car service is, about what price? Just curious, do you think I would be the only one on the bus at that time?

i think its around $400. i dont know what the shortline would be like in the middle of the night but it sounds kinda sketch.

Does anyone know how many luggages we are allowed to carry per person? Or is there even a limit to that?

I don’t think there’s a limit, but I wouldn’t be taking three suitcases if I were you.

and ROFL @ $400 car service. I’d take my chances with a sketchy $90 shortline.

Hahahaha… the car service is a waste of money. Shortline is fine and since it’s not the beginning of a break there will probably be almost nobody else on the bus… this also means you can pretty much take as much luggage as you want.

holy crap lol, that’s alot. hm… i think i might have to take my chance on the sketchy short line bus haha. thanks though.

the campus to campus bus is less sketchy and is more comfortable

oh it’s also less than $400…

but the shortline should be fine…

You can also take it in front of Collegetown Bagels

well there’s 2 of us and we might have 3-4 luggages in total, is that gonna be ok?

Yeah four bags between two people is fine. Also, I’ve taken Shortline both late at night and very early in the morning and it’s not too sketchy, so don’t worry.

Anyone know where the stop is on west campus. On the schedule it says “Cornell, West Campus, W-D Lot”?

or “Cornell, Theater Arts Ctr” ?

for west campus, i’m pretty sure it’s at the bottom of the slope - where baker flagpole is. for the “theater arts ctr” - that just means it’s in front of the schwartz center/across the street from collegetown bagels.
