Should AP Economics be taken by a aspiring pre-med student, interested in doing an MD-MBA program?

For reference, I am currently a rising sophomore who has taken a regular, un-weighted Economics and Personal Finance course in their freshman year. This course has gotten me interested in taking AP Economics (macro and micro combined) in my sophomore year. Do you think I should do this? Or should I just focus my APs on the harder math & sciences, like Physics, Calculus, etc.? Please give me your advice!

I think you should take the courses you are most interested in. That being said, will you be sacrificing advanced courses in STEM areas of study? I do think that if you’re applying to an engineering school within a college to pursue your premed track, then I do think that AP classes in STEM would look better. Other than that, I think AP European History would be an excellent class to take if you’re interested in it. Also, don’t stress too much about how you look sophomore year. I took AP US History my sophomore year instead of AP Chem because I was interested in it. I’m still only a rising senior, so I’d take my advice with a grain of salt, but if you’re applying to elite schools like Harvard or Princeton, then taking AP European History will look good. They prefer more well-rounded students, as they are liberal arts institutions. You can still do premed there, but you are not required to have concentrated in STEM during high school.
