He had honors physics freshman year, but I'm not sure how much he actually learned...

So he is in APUSH and AP Phys C... He is up to like 3am doing each and has to drop one of them. APUSH, he only gets like 80s on tests and same for physics, but he really has no idea what he is doing. His dad is helping him (I think he is doing actually) his homework.

Well, he definitely shouldn’t be up at 3 A.M. them, or even if he had them 3 times over.

Maybe your/his school just has a crazy workload, eh. If he hasn’t already tell him to get some AP review books (imo, so much easier to handle than tb’s).

Just head on over to the AP section of this forum to get more info.

It depends on what he wants to do and what he’s interested in. Is he more of a liberal arts person, does he prefer history to science or vice versa? Is his dad doing the HW in both courses or just one? Is he spending two hours on one class but five on the other?

If he wants to major in history, he should keep APUSH because it will get him out of a survey course possibly if he does well enough.

For me, I’d keep APUSH but I’m a history geek. Actually, I would never have signed up for AP Physics. Honors just about did me in.
