From my understanding the stats are low, but not the lowest and definitely not a 100% decline. So just tell him to give it his all on the two essays, get some recommendation letters, etc and just hope for the best.</p>
<p>The only kids that have no shot at UT are those that don’t apply. With ApplyTexas, there is no reason not too (except the fee, but if that is an issue the wavier was brought up earlier)</p>
<p>Ask your son to write great essays and embellish his extracurriculars (this doesn’t mean lie, but it means that he should word them to seem even more impressive and sort of toot his own horn). He should have a high school athletic coach and a teacher that really likes him as a students write him recommendation letters and submit those 2 as supplements. Ask him to give his best shot because you never know unless he tries his best to get in and turn in the best application possible!</p>
