Should I accept this admission offer?

I have recently been accepted to a college I like on early admission. If I accept, I can submit my housing contract. They said I can revoke it up until May 1st of next year if I choose not to go there. Is it a good idea to accept, even though I plan on applying to other colleges, or should I wait to accept?

is money a problem? If it is wait till you see what money other colleges give you before you make a decision.

When is the deadline to accept the EA offerDo you have a financial offer yet? Usually when you accept an offer you are not expected to be applying to more schools. I believe that is an ethical conflict and outright no no. Oddly enough depositing for housing is okay. I will try to find a citation for you.

Are you saying there is some language about revoking the EA offer? Can you repeat that here?

By early admission, I meant it’s like normal admission but just opened early for certain students. The deadline is May 1st, like most schools.

Is there an estimated financial aid package that looks good to you?

Are there any specific benefits attached to accepting and depositing now rather than later? For example, is this the only way to guarantee a particular residence hall?

We did this with one college where S got an early admission. It was a large state university and the date of housing application was critical for a chance at decent housing choices. So he accepted, paid the housing deposit, made his selections but ultimately decided on attending a different college so he pulled his acceptance prior to May 1st. We would rather not have done it that way - all the other state universities he applied to allowed us to put a deposit on a housing contract without enrolling (of course, they all keep some portion of the deposit even if you withdraw).

YES!

Wait, were you admitted NOW for Fall 2016?
Is that through Rolling Admissions? What university is this? Is it private, public, for-profit?

Yes, it is for Fall 2016. The school is Iowa State, a public university. It is rolling admissions. Typically they start accepting applications on July 1, but they opened it early for certain students. It’s an instate school for me, so unless I recieve a fairly large financial aid package from another school, it’s most likely to be the cheapest school on my list. You pay a $330 fee when you accept and if you withdraw you get back $295.

I’d say $5 is worth the peace of mind!

Okay then, definitely deposit!
