Should I apply as a Freshman or as an International?

I'm a US citizen but I live and have done all of my schooling in Switzerland.

Does anyone know if I should apply as a Freshman, meaning the same as people in the States, or if I need to apply as an International.

Also, I'm taking the TOEFL in 3 weeks, even though English is my mother tongue, because I do not attend an English-speaking school.

I got 710 on the CR part of the SAT.

Do you think schools will require the TOFEL? And would it be to my advantage to send them the scores?

1.) There is usually a section in the app to select your situation. One of them happens to be "US Resident residing abroad"

2.) From what i've heard, you are usually placed in the same pool as the country you graduate from. Do not quote me on this tho...

3.) If you score highly on the TOEFL it would work to help your app. And, there is a limit in CR after which you are exempted from TOEFL.

where you from in switzerland?

I live in Geneva.
Are you from Switzerland too?

Same, also GVA

You should apply as a "freshman" as you don't need a visa/I-20 or show financial support. You are also eligible to file for FAFSA and financial aid.

However, Arjun is right that you will be evaluated in the international pool with other int'l applicants from the country of your high school.

Btw, you are considered out-of-state in any state unless one of your parents resides (physically) and pays taxes in your home state for at least the entire year before you are to enter college.

p.s. I don't think you need to take the TOEFL if your native language is English and you speak English predominately at home. However, there is no harm in taking the TOEFL as it should be easy for you ... if you can afford the $140.
