my teacher said that my stats are good enough to get me in for sure Ed II but I'm still unsure about the whole commitment thing and it kinda scares me. I would love to go to gw but I might just want to apply regular, I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether it helps significantly to appl Ed?

Let me first state that the commitment you face when becoming an early decision applicant is not a legally binding one. If you cannot attend an institution for financial reasons, the university cannot make you. If you are admitted, and the financial aid package is not sufficient for you to attend, there is no obligation for you to attend. Period.

As for whether or not it helps significantly to apply early decision, I would say it does. The regular decision pool is usually much more selective than the early decision pool, and so students that really want to attend (but question their statistics) are better off applying early decision.

It says here though that early decision is binding. And I do not have a financial reason to not attend.

No school can force you to attend but it is completely unethical to apply ED and go back on your commitment. It’s obvious you don’t like it enough to go early so just apply regular. In my experience ED pools are more selective than regular~ % taken is higher but applicants have better stats.
