Should I apply ED?

<p>I am planning to retake the SAT this October and SAT II Math and Physics this November.
Ive taken the SAT twice so far, but have not taken any SAT subject tests.
I am also applying to UC schools-applications are due in November I believe- so I feel like applying ED will
take too much time from my SAT studies and UC apps.
But I see a lot of other people applying ED (I have about the same GPA and SAT score as them-impressive GPA, not so good test scores). Plus, somebody told me I should do ED because you have less competition (I know this is not necessarily true, but if you are applicant competitive enough, you have a better chance, dont you?)
By the way, I want to apply to one of the top universities, if I am doing ED, that is</p>

<p>How is your stat compare with the admission data (not the other people you know applying)?
Also, are you sure it is affordable to you?
If you are near the admission average, it is affordable to you (by NPC), and you absolutely want to go to that school, then you may apply ED.</p>

<p>If you need to compare FA offers then ED is probably not a good idea. If you need to improve your record then ED is also not a good idea. ED stats tend to be higher than RD because that pool includes recruited athletes and other special case students.</p>
