I am now a junior in high school who is looking at attending Reed. Without a doubt Reed is my overall first choice and I am absolutely in love with the philosophy of the school and with the academic environment. However, my overall GPA is only around a 3.0, which is far below the average 3.8 of most Reedies, but my GPA over the last year alone is around 3.9 and my SAT is pretty good with a 700 CR score (but I do not remember the other numbers). Do you think that the fact that I have turned myself around gradewise in the past year and that I am a strong writer who can convey my love for and want to attend the school effectively will make me a good candidate for ED?

Visit, then decide. Don't worry about your numbers and letters 'cause Reed will also quickly forget them. Be sure to visit. If you have doubts, visit again and visit elsewhere. Stay overnight. I hosted prospies for two years on campus and I promise you'll have a good time, even if you decide that you're better off at BYU or Oral Roberts. ;-)
