NYU has been the school that I've wanted to go to since I was old enough to worry about colleges. I don't think I have a chance of getting in if I apply RD, but I'm scared that I won't be able to pay it off if I get in as ED. Should I just worry about the finances later and still apply ED? Or should I not take any chances and be practical?

if its your dream school, apply ed. although it says its a "binding" contract, if you get in and with any FA offered you absolutely cannot afford it, you are not legally obligated to go. i believe there are a few stories on here of people applying ED that ended up getting in but going to a state uni because they couldnt afford it.

I would suggest being practical.

There's a reason why schools tend to make ED binding. It might screw over all of the other kids at your school (in the future, at least), not only that, but NYU's FA is notoriously bad. I wouldn't risk it; just apply RD. You might want to show some stats.
