I'm in 11th grade living in asia. I am interested in applying to uc berkeley and stanford for eecs and electrical engineering respectively. At uc berkeley i am interested in concentrating in electrical engineering in the eecs category.

But the problem is, I haven't taken any computer classes in high school. So can I study electrical engineering in these universities? (I'll be applying to other top universities also.) And will the universities admit me without having any computer classes taken in high school?

The only real requirement to studying engineering in college is having taken pre-calculus in HS, though calculus is highly recommended. Without strong math skills coming out of HS, you are dead in the water in engineering. Everything else can be taken in college, but chemistry and physics in HS also help.

Thanks MrMom62. I have scheduled all the necessary physics, chemistry and math courses to be taken in high school. But I just wanted to know, will the above mentioned universities (especially eecs at uc berkeley) regard me as unqualified to study electrical engineering due to my lack of knowledge in computer? I mean, will that be any disadvantage to me in the admissions process?
