Should I apply for FAFSA?

Hey guys. I am just wondering if I should even try and apply for financial aid w/ FAFSA...do grants go in with that??

Here's my situation...

I think my dad makes too much money for me to get anything from financial aid. MY PARENTS DON't PAY FOR MY SCHOOLING, HOUSING, ANYTHING! its ridiculous.

Is there a chance that I simply don't qualify? My parents arn't rich or anything I just know that...because I am considered dependent (even though they don't pay for anything) my income is somehow their income?? lol wish it really worked that way. bleh!

I am not living w/ my parents but I am considered a dependent :( bleh.
Should I apply for the heck of it?
I could really use the help if there is any way I qualify.

I think I will only apply if there is a chance I can also receive grants and scholarships w/in the same FAFSA app. I know the deadline is March 2 so I need to figure it out soon.

P.S. i know you can write some sort of letter saying you are independent of your parents but ive tried it and its basically only if your parents tried to kill you when you lived or spoke with them lol? ***. Anyway, other suggestions please.

you should apply for it, even if you just get a few hundred dollars. i think the new FAFSA takes in consideration people who are in your situation.

really…about my situation? Do you know if the CAL Grant and Scholarships are included in the FAFSA?

Not for you. For high need, high qualified students yes.

my parents make a considerable amount and i’m still applying for FAFSA. my brothers graduated a few years ago and they still received some money, not a lot, but some. it’s worth the 30 minute app.

My parents don’t make a lot of money (less than $70K), but we have a second that home they bought when CA was cheap. This makes our assets way too high to qualify for any aid (and my brother has been going to a UC for the last 3 years with no fin. aid)

I am in the same position as you. I applied because for some schools, you have to apply with FAFSA to get any scholarships, including merit based. It doesn’t hurt anything to apply.
