<p>I think you should definitely apply if you like Amherst. I think you have a shot.</p>

<p>Well, if you don’t take your application seriously, you’ll join the 85 percent denied admission annually.</p>

<p>If you’re fond of Amherst and everything it stands for and has to offer, you should apply, even if you feel you don’t have a strong chance at admission. Amherst has been very generous to extraordinary applicants who aren’t so extraordinary statistically.</p>
