Should I apply now or later?

Currently applying to DePaul as a transfer, I have a 2.98 (was originally premed but hated the classes so I didn’t apply myself), changing to business since that seems like the best major for someone that intends to be an entrepreneur. I have all A’s and 1 B right now and will have around a 3.2-3.3 after this semester is over. Do I have strong enough chances to apply now and get in or should I wait and apply after the semester?

Hey, I’m literally in the same boat as you. Except my stats are a bit lower. My last 42 credit hours will be a 4.0 GPA but failed a few classes freshman year…Literally every advisor I talked to said to apply now and if you were to get rejected, apply again once your final grades come in. This is coming from a Florida community college to a Florida university though, might be different where you are located.

That’s exactly what I was told when I talked to the advisors. I did play a sport at a small college my freshman year and using that as to why I found it hard to do well in classes I wasn’t too fond off seems like it could help as well. I go to a school right outside of Chicago so that may help me. Let me know how everything goes with you!

Consider yourself lucky lol… the school I’m trying to get into doesnt even give you an option to write an explanation or provide letters of recommendation until after you’re denied… All we can do is hope for the best… Same to you!! good luck!

If you are local to Chicago, I would print out your unofficial transcript and make an appointment with a transfer admissions officer at DePaul.

On the one hand, your GPA will be higher come June, and they accept transfer applications until August 1. On the other hand, you already clear their 2.5 GPA minimum to apply and applying early sometimes leads to better financial aid. Plus, you’ll have more time to plan if you don’t have to wait until the last minute to find out if you’re in.

Good luck!
