Sorry, sorry all I know these are getting ridiculous.

I just finished my Brown app and I’m surprisingly optimistic about it. I really think I did something cool with one of my essays and I think I stand a pretty good shot at acceptance (I know I’m setting myself up for disappointment hahaha).

My question is, should I apply PLME. I know that I DON’T stand a good shot at all for this. I only have a 2160SAT and 32ACT but perfect math on both exams. I have a 780 Math 2 and a 750 Spanish with a unweighted 4.0 and a fantastic class rank (I mean, great! Hoping for some good news in the next few weeks regarding awards…)

My experience with medicine is a summer internship at a hospital. I could write some pretty strong essays about wanting to be a doctor too.

I’m just wondering if its worth it. I have heard that applying PLME can really hurt your chances of getting into Brown. Is this true? Should I even apply PLME? Am I getting too greedy?

Do you want to be a doctor? Are you passionate about getting a broad liberal education while premed? You should really consider these questions before you decide to apply PLME. PLME’s not just something to look good on your transcript or resume - it’s a huge decision about what you want to do with your life. You saying “I could write some pretty strong essays about wanting to be a doctor too” seems like you’re not quite ready to commit to it. But if I’m reading this wrong and it’s really what you want to do, then do it! It’s never going to hurt.

Does applying PLME make it harder to get into Brown if you get denied to PLME? :o

I was planning on applying PLME because I KNOW I want to be a doctor, but I also REALLY want the liberal education as an undergrad which is hard to get at a lot of schools. But my SATs are not all that stellar (2190 overall 690 M and 770 CR) but I don’t want to do that if it will hurt my chances of getting into Brown at all.

No, I most definitely will be taking the premed course. I aspire to be a doctor more than anything else. It’s just a tough decision to make because it could get me denied out of my number one school. I’m in a pickle =(

There’s no way that getting denied PLME will hurt your chances at Brown. I’ve said it once and I’ll probably say it a thousand times. People always worry about this, and it’s nothing to worry about. PLME decisions are independent of Brown decisions.

Interesting…you said you got a 700 on spanish SAT II on another thread…

While I may not be an expert on PLME admissions, I do know that any form of lying will get you denied from the college. And that is that. Just be careful
