Should I apply to a back-up school?

Hi!
I just sent in my application to UW Seattle and I’m hoping to go there (DA CSE would be nice but that’s a very long shot).
I never viewed UW as too difficult to get into, but now that I have applied, I’m worried if I should apply somewhere else just in case? Or maybe I’m just being super paranoid.
My SAT superscore is 2060 (2020 highest, not sure how UW does SATs)
4.0 GPA (11 APs total) and lots of extracurriculars/leadership, I’m aware that I’m a bit above average for what UW generally requires. But since they claim to be so holistic in admissions, I’m kind of freaking out. (Like maybe my essays were bad or something).
So would it be wise to apply somewhere else just in case? I had a few friends in the past with similar situations that did.

I’m in state too if that helps.

I am fairly confident that you will be admitted! You’re right that UW is not terribly hard to get into. For UW admissions, if you meet or exceed the average applicant’s stats, you will more than likely be admitted. I did know some kids in high school with pretty solid stats who didn’t get in, so maybe that could be attributed to the essay - but their stats weren’t as high as yours.

I think you should apply to other schools just to reduce your anxiety level a little bit, maybe WSU or Western or another cheap instate school that you are interested in. You will most likely get into UW, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have options. Maybe WSU will offer you a decent scholarship.

If I could do my UW admissions process over again, I would apply to a backup school. Even though I ended up getting admitted, it added to my anxiety that I didn’t have a backup as I waited for my decision. Even though it’s a low chance, you don’t want it to be May of next year and not have anywhere to go.
