I’m very conflicted. Stern is my dream school but it’s a reach school for me. CAS is more in my range, but I’d study economics there which is a topic I am interested in but it is not my first choice. I am more interested in business which Stern is perfect for.
I am a full IB diploma student. I have a 3.71 uw gpa/4.2 w gpa and 30 ACT which I am retaking this week.
As for extra activities, I volunteer with the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Hopelink, and at my local hospital. I started an organization to raise money for the treatment of breast cancer patients in my community and I founded the Tiles Talk Chapter at my school. I’m in orchestra, a yearbook editor and I participate in clubs such as Key Club, Amnesty International, FBLA, and HOSA. I work at Kumon tutoring/ grading papers, and I work for my taekwondo teacher’s school as a student teacher. I have a 3rd dan black belt. I wrote my essays on how dealing with my mother’s cancer treatment while supporting my family through this time built my character and helped me grow up.
Honestly, I know my grades/scores aren’t too strong. I know that I can only apply to one or the other, so should I go for Stern or CAS? I’d hate to apply to Stern and get rejected from NYU, my dream school, completely. However, if I apply to CAS and get in, I’ll always be wondering what could have been. Advice? Stern or CAS?
