Should I apply to Ross?

Business is my passion and that’s clear throughout my application. So, it seems to me like I should apply to Ross, but I’m a bit worried.

I know it’s a very competitive program and that I’ll have the chance to apply after I get into the school, so I have some doubts.

The Common Application asks me if I have a specific program I want to apply to within the college I want to apply to (i.e. Ross). But, it’s giving me the option to not select anything.

Will my chance of getting into U-M be hurt if I select Ross instead of saying that I have no specific program in mind? Basically, what I’m asking is, if you apply for Ross, and you get rejected, can you still get into the U-M’s LSA?

Thanks!

Yes, you can get into Mich even if you’re not accepted to Ross pre admit.

Not only will it not hurt your LSA admission chances at all, it will help your end of freshman year admissions chances to Ross. Ross likes those who tried for the pre-admit. I’ve heard that from admissions directors.

Your application only gets forwarded to Ross after you get admitted into LSA. The decisions are separate. Your decision to apply to Ross pre-admit will not affect your chances of being admitted into LSA.

I’m sorry if this may seem like I’m thread jacking, but I also think that this following question may be in interest for OP as well as me: since we applied so late (I applied two days ago and OP applied yesterday), can we assume that our chances at Pre admit Ross are basically zero the none no matter how impressive our resumes are?

There is no harm, as far as I know, in checking the pre-admission option box for Ross.

It’s not necessarily going to be zero, but it will most definitely be more competitive since seats are already becoming filled. You’re not going to lose anything by trying. Worst case, you apply as a regular applicant after your freshman year.
