So I haven’t started (or looked at) any of the application requirements for Yale, Princeton, or Columbia. I applied to Harvard EA and was hoping that I’d get in and not have to worry about cranking out essays for other colleges. Well, I just got my acceptance yesterday and I’ll most likely attend Harvard since its my #1 choice but idk. Should I try applying to the others to see if I’d get in or call it a day and enjoy Xmas break?
If it is your top school and you don’t really want to attend the others then I think you should just call it a day and be happy that you got into Harvard.
Agree, if you are in your top choice school and it is affordable then there is not reason to spend the time and money to file any additional applications. Buy a Harvard hoodie and celebrate.
Yea you’re right. Thanks guys! @madman1923 @happy1
@krauser126 Since you are certain that you will attend Harvard even if you get into the others, I do not see the point in applying anywhere else. Especially since getting into Harvard means that you will most probably be able to get into the others. It is not like you got into Yale or Princeton early and you are now just curious whether you can make the slightly higher cut of Harvard. Just enjoy your senior year, try not to get senioritis and relax. You deserve it.
@Penn95 Thank you, I appreciate your kind words
When older d was a senior she had a classmate who had gotten into Harvard early and did not withdraw other applications to “see what happens”. so she did get into Cornell and Dartmouth, neither of which she had any interest in attending and maybe some other schools, I think Duke . but by not withdrawing her applications, it did limit other students from the same high school’s acceptances. There were 7 applicants to Cornell, 5 were accepted, 2 were waitlisted and 1, the valedictorian attended. He chose Cornell over Dartmouth, Penn and Columbia after being rejected to both Yale and Harvard. The salutatorian did the same thing- he was accepted at both Cornell and Dartmouth and not really interested in either… very wealthy family but he took a full-ride at George Washington and never looked back.
I would put in Yale and Princeton just to see if you get better aid. If I may ask, how much aid did you get at Harvard? 80%? 90%? If your family is satisfied with the aid, then don’t apply, but if you feel like you might have to pay a little more than expected, apply to those two and see what happens.
