ok, right now I am in the middle of studying for my micro and macro economics exams and I have been stressing to study over them. I really hate economics and I find the stuff pretty boring. How much is economics related to Finance and if I hate economics right now, like I hate it. Should I continue to pursue a finance degree or would I find boring since economics hardly interests me. help?

wurd on the street is finance and economics are exactly the same except for 3 classes

I think Finance is more applied econ and econ is more theory... could be wrong though

intel23 i wouldn't go as far as to say that - it might be for a few ugrad programs I guess, but some schools' economics and finance curriculum seem to vary greatly.

Thats for sure! He doesn't quite live on Wall St. :)

Well have you taken any finance courses yet?

It may be that you dislike the micro and macro classes because they are very theoretical and it can be difficult at times to see how such abstractions can be useful for anything in real life. Finance classes, on the other hand, could be more interesting for you because they are more applied, dealing with more numbers and fewer Greek letters.

I personally love economics and don't really care for finance, but I have classmates who are just the opposite. Lucky for you, most of the financial sector jobs out there are more related to finance than economics, and the few that are economics require a graduate degree in econ anyway which you obviously won't be getting if you hate econ.

Could you say a bit more about what you DO like? Okay you don't like economics, but what does interest you? What subjects do you like to read about? What would you like to be paid to do?

yeah I like to get a lucaritive job after I m done with college, i havent yet taken an finance class though. thanks for taking the time to tell me that economics is not the same as finance, however if its more work like the math problems on the econ tests than I may want to reconsider a major in psychology.
