I'm going to be a freshman in college next year, and I'm kind of wondering what I should do.

I originally planned to major in economics -- I took the AP Macro class (the only econ class offered) in HS and it was one of the most interesting classes I took (something just clicked; I actually liked the process of learning about econ stuff a lot).

However I've sent my deposit to NYU Stern, and I know although they have strong economics, they have even stronger finance. The problem is, I have absolutely no experience with finance, or what it's about. And even worse, I don't have any idea what I'd do with a degree in either after college, except try to place for some kind of job.

So basically I feel like I couldn't go too wrong majoring in econ since I felt really attached to the subject when I took the class in HS (which might sound flakey since it's only one class, but the way I felt in that class was way different than the times I was learning, say, bio or english or whatever), but finance might be a stronger choice in my college and I have no idea what it entails. Is there somewhere I can read up on both? Can someone give me a rundown of the differences? Anyone learned both and have opinions on which they "like" better? Which should I choose?
