ok so far Uchicago has rejected me, and Northwestern has waitlisted me. I’ve also gotten into various schools i really dont want to go to (UCLA, Uwashington, UC berkeley). i also got into Umichigan, which isnt bad, but i feel like i’ve worked too hard in high school to go there. My top 4 was Upenn, Brown, Uchicago and Northwestern. at this point, im very afraid that i’ll also get rejected from penn and brown, and getting rejected from all four would be a nightmare.

the only things i have working in my favor for brown are that its the only school i interviewed with and i think brown received better essays than some other schools i applied to. however, the acceptance rate for brown is much lower than for uchicago, especially from my school.

for now, the wait is killing me. the next 6 days are going to be rough…

why would you apply to schools you “really didn’t want to apply to”?..and Michigan is a great school, but I digress. At least results come out in a week

well i applied to ucla, berkeley and uwash basically cos my family made me. i know umich is a good school and i was happy to get in, but i really want to do better

I know what you mean. I applied to HYP and Brown, and I was rejected from Stanford in the early round. I’ve been accepted to a state school that’s giving me a lot of scholarship money, but everyone (including myself) is expecting so much more from me. But there’s nothing we can do about it now except wait! Don’t lose hope yet. :)

I know it feels like a horrible wait right now, but worrying won’t change the outcome. They made all the decisions weeks ago. I also know that hearing this from other people rarely makes anyone feel better, but I’ve known tons of people who ended up attending their 2nd- or 3rd- or 4th- or 5th- or 6th-choice schools and have been completely satisfied. Whichever of those schools you attend, you will make amazing friends, learn a ton about yourself, and get a great education. Good luck!

Evil, I don’t know if you’ve had a chance to visit U Michigan, or, chinatown, your state school. I went to my flagship because of a scholarship day fully intending to not like it, but I really did like it. I know I could have a smaller community and fun there because of their honors program and get a great education and go to grad school with money in the bank. I’m not saying it is my first choice because it isn’t right now, but it really would end up being a great option. Just a thought…sometimes we think we know what is best, but life hands us other stuff that ends up being better.

If this waiting is torturous, go on the Berkeley and UCLA forums. You will discover tons of kids wishing, just wishing they could be in your shoes. Of course, you don’t know about Brown or UPenn, but for now, celebrate where you’re in!

Hey haha I’m kinda in the situation
Brown is #1 after reject from Columbia in the ED round…
so far got into
State school with 1/2 tuition scholarship
Berkeley
UCLA
BC
NYU
Waitlisted at UChicago, Northwestern, and WashU in St. Louis

Guess there’s nothing else to do but to wait…

Same here. Rejected at Wash U and Northwestern. But I didn’t put much effort into those. I applied Brown ED and was deferred…but I am a bit more worried now too after all these rejects. But i didn’t sincerely want to go to either of those two either so…idk.

hey…I know what you mean, but all i can say is there hang in there. If you got into schools such as umich, berkely, and ucla that means you are a brilliant individual. As far as I can tell you about the college admission process, it is a massive crapshoot. You can get into one school and get rejected from everywhere else. Don’t let your decisions from other schools dictate your chances at brown. It’s hard, but just hang in there. You will end up somewhere great regardless. g

@coltsfan
i dont think im that brilliant of an individual, i just have strong grades/test scores. but my extra curriculars are pretty weak, which is why i’ve only been getting into public schools (except for carnegie mellon) which generally dont care as much about extra curriculars compared to some private schools, which i’d much rather go to. anyway, at this point im just trying not to think about it, but the wait is really killing me. less than 4 days left though!

I just think it’s a little hard to predict the future. We have four years of incredible acadmic and social opportunities ahead of us. How do you know whether you’ll meet your best friends at College X or Y? How do you know which professors will inspire you the most? How do you know which opportunites at which schools will alter your future? I think we’ll have a great time any place we go.
