Ok. Good. GSU is your safety! So, no worries.
@nw2this @jennacwa this is UGA we are talking about… it isn’t that hard to get into. Everyone is acting like it’s IVY league. No, if you see the students at UGA right now, you’ll wonder how they got in. This website is toxic, everyone thinks they are so knowledgeable about college admissions. No one knows everything for sure. You guys might think you’re being realistic, but it’s more condescending. I’m a current student at UGA. I got in with a 25. Guys, it’s UGA for the last time. & Keep in mind some kids have the money to prepare for SAT and ACT … not everyone will do extremely well on standardized tests. the student that posted this got Quest bridge, that itself is a HUGE accomplishment.
Uga gets more and more competitive every year. I don’t view it as the best of the best like many people do, but I am able to recognize how hard it is to get into and how big of an accomplishment it is. If you look up the current stats, you’d be an outlier with that score now @joseylovettt00 the middle 50% stats for ea this year were 30-33 act, 4-4.26 gpa, and 6-11 AP classes. Even though EA is more academically oriented, you still have to have pretty great stats to get in RD. Nearly half of EA applicants got deferred, which makes it even harder. If you’re from a more rural area, these stats are typically lower for that specific region. My opinion of UGA has nothing to do with CC. I and numerous other people have gone through the admission process at UGA, and it was probably more recently than you did. know someone with a 4.1 gpa, 34 act, and 8 AP classes that applied Instate two years ago and got deferred EA, waitlisted ED, and then denied. You are the one being unrealistic by making UGA seem like it’s a subpar school with an easy admissions process. I am not denying that this student has accomplished a lot, and looking into it more showed me that being a QB scholar will really enhance the original poster’s applicant. UGA will love that. I’m simply trying to say that UGA is nowhere near being guaranteed for anyone unless they’re val or sal and instate.
@jennacwa You can’t be too sure you have gone through the admissions process more recent than I have. Sure UGA is getting more competitive, but lots of students have gotten in with lower stats. And maybe the studentthat you knew wasn’t admitted because there are other students with similar stats, but nothing that makes them stand out. Numbers are not the only part of admissions. A lot of people are acting like the chances are 10% for this student… No, and while I can’t be sure about the admissions, neither can anyone else in this post. I’m not being unrealistic, if this student lives in the district I’m thinking of, they have a good chance since the area is more competitive. If it was rural, southern GA, than that’s a different story. But seems as the student lives in metro ATL. Anyways, that’s your opinion, and I can’t change that. If the student is QB finalist, they must be low income. That shows student may not have had as much as an opportunity to have SAT/ACT prep. I’m not saying this person has a 100% chance of getting in, it’s not like the chances are impossible.
If it is a competitive district or system, Alpharetta or Gwinnett, top 10% and a 26 act isn’t going to fly for UGA.
I didn’t say anything about the OP’s chances at UGA or the QB schools because I don’t know. I just made sure OP had a true safety. Everyone should have one.
Got accepted today so not worried anymore!!! Don’t give up hope!
Congradulations on your admittance…hoping I get the same outcome when the March decisions come out
@nw2this @snorkelmom @jennacwa Thanks for the advice guys! Glad to say I was admitted today during the February admissions! Took your advice and applied to GA State but won’t be sending scores now since I got into UGA
Congratulations! You have a compelling story and I think they heard it in your essays. Best wishes to you!
Congrats!
Congratulations!
Congrats on getting in! I got in too and I’m committing. You should message me if you decide to go
Congrats! Lol, everyone was doubting OP but they got in earlier than people who had higher test scores. This goes to show that test scores aren’t everything.
If anyone could chance me, that would be helpful!

I got deferred from EA, but I don’t really feel nervous about getting in RD, however, a lot of people at my school are nervous about getting in which makes me feel like I should be worried about my changes.
My GPA is 3.95 W, don’t know UW
Rank: 45/684 (top 10%)
SAT: 1140 (reason I got deferred! lol, )
Took the ACT while waiting for admissions got a 26.
Will graduate with taking 8 APs, rest of classes are honors or gifted. (AP psych, AP world, AP us history, AP calc BC, AP Lit, AP lang, AP Gov, AP Econ)
EC’s
National Honor Society (Officer)
German Club President
German National Honor Society President
Student Ambassador
Social Justice Club Vice President
yearly, I organize a donation drive at school for refugees in metro Atlanta area
(there’s more, but can’t remember what other ones I included in application)
Volunteer work (500+ hours)
Day care: volunteered as teacher’s helper almost every day during summer, worked at the front desk, summer camp, etc
Refugee Services: I volunteered in Clarkston and Stone mountain at a clothes closet, where I sorted donated clothing for refugees, and assisted refugees with choosing clothes and provided them with other essentials
Refugee services: for the same organization, different year, I volunteered at kids day camp for refugee services, I led therapeutic activities, took the kids to the ATL zoo, cooked for them, and more (the organization is well known in GA, the show 60 minutes came to the camp and filmed for an episode on Syrian refugees in GA)
Intern: I interned at a health program and wrote articles that promoted healthy lifestyles. The articles were specifically geared for the elderly Asian community in Metro Atlanta.
Essays: pretty good, I used my real life experience with Syrian refugees and talked about how I want to work towards helping Syrian refugees in Georgia.
Mom is refugee, that is why I have a lot of interest in refugee services, and I listed International Relations as my major.
I’m also a QuestBridge finalist, so I guess that may help. Also, live in GA’s best school district, idk how that might help lol.
Any input would be great! I just want to know if I should be worried about getting in. UGA isn’t my first choice, it is more like a solid plan if my other schools do not work out. I’m a little scared because of ACT, because it’s a little lower than average. Thanks to whoever replies!

TONS of my friends (including myself) got in with a 26 on ACT or equivalent on SAT. We all had something to back up our applications. Numbers are not the only deciding factor, so future applicants, don’t be discouraged if your test scores aren’t the greatest. UGA is very holistic.
