The college I applied to (Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania) asked for my first marking period grades of my senior year. I applied rather early, should I be worried about this? I am however taking my first marking period seriously now.

Are you worried because you are doing poorly for this grading cycle and aren’t sure how your current grades will affect your chances? Or, are concerned that they are asking because they have concerns about your application? It is quite common for colleges to ask for senior year grades that will be completed before the admissions decisions. Even after a decision, they will ask for grades, and if you really, really bomb the end of your senior year, they do have the right to revoke admission.

I’m worried that this means I have less of a chance to be admitted. Right now I am doing rather well with grades.

It just means that they want a bit more of a picture of your educational status, what courses you are taking, etc. I wouldn’t be worried as long as you have a B average or better.
