I'm aware that it supposedly takes like 8+ weeks to hear back, so I know I'm not "technically out of the time frame." BUT the idea that people on this site are getting through a lot faster is worrying. Especially the guy that got a decision in 2 weeks..

Here's the dates of all my stuff:

..and my status currently says:

Your application is being processed. Please see below for the status of required documents. Applications are processed in date order once all documents have been received.

It seems like most people on here have had their status switch to something like "your application is complete, but no decision has been made etc" pretty quickly, however mine is still being "processed." Which is odd since other big ten schools (u minn, madison, uiuc, indiana) have taken only 2-3 days to process.

I tried calling today just to see if I'm missing anything, but I was on hold for 57 minutes and gave up.

..is it normal for it to say this for this long, or is something possibly wrong?

Sometimes the system lags for some reason. Mine said that for a few weeks and I actually got my acceptance letter before the system switched off of that message.

Try calling early in the morning. Like when they open early. They are SWAMPED right now trying to get stuff done before break. It is strange that it hasn’t changed the message yet.

i made an ass of myself yesterday while talking to them.

I have a pretty bad natural lisp… (it’s genetic), and the words materials, sent, status, processing, and application have a lof of “s” sounds and I completely made a fool of myself.

I talked to Jeremy, an admissions guy, and he told me that he couldnt understand me and that “he will be hanging up now.”

Call back and make a complaint. Many students work in there as part of work-study. If he couldn’t understand you, he should have transferred your call. If you’re not lying, call and make a complaint.

One, I doubt they are flat-out ignoring your emails. Two, 4 hours? When did you call? I believe you, it’s just hard to believe for a variety of reasons, no offense.

Good luck, they’re on vacation now so there’s no use in emailing or calling now. Just have to wait it out until January.

I’m in the same boat as you are, except my transcript got in on 11/6 (thanks school…) instead of my statement. The people that got their letter in 2 weeks probably applied really early, when they did not have many applicants, now, however, they probably have many more. Oh yeah, and I’m still waiting, just like you are =/ My guess is probably early January.

hey same boat for me,

no word yet! and still processing. A month ago I called in worried too and they said they had everything they needed and just to wait blah blah high volume of applicants. I also called at like 330 in the afternoon and got through to a person in less than 10 minutes

In light of this message, I am amending what I said on the other page. You have to remember that they had break like we did, and their admissions went through the roof this year (primarily because of the economy) while having to get rid of some of the workers (again, because of the lovely economy). I know it sucks to wait but you guys just have to hang in there. If you don’t hear anything by next Tuesday, I would call again.

Good luck to all those who are still waiting!

STILL HASN’T CHANGED gahhhhh. This is making me nervous. OSU did the exact same thing and then rejected me, so I’m thinking MSU might do the same thing?

this just happened today! make sure you check… same with my friend who applied 3 days after me

Application Status
A decision was made on Thursday, January 07, 2010. An official letter was mailed to you. Admission decisions are not provided over the telephone. Decision letters are mailed to applicants and typically take 7-10 business days to receive.

So they should have a decision for me very soon!

No worries dude. I had the same status for over 2 months before a decision was made. And I was accepted, so don’t think that the fact that they’re taking a long time foreshadows a rejection.

It’s STILL “being processed.” I’ve called several times and they say “…looks like we have everything we need; oh, you’re under review…” but I’m really not getting any follow up here!

Is this still normal or has it been too long?

Did you already submit 7th semester grades? If so, then don’t worry. You’ll hear from them soon…the wait is painful, but hopefully you’ll have an acceptance in hand in not too long - good luck!
