Should I bother to apply to LSU?

I'm a Texas resident. I took it for granted that I was going to join the military after high school, that didn't work out. I did not apply to any school except for a safety. I now regret not applying earlier. I've submitted an application to UT Austin but my transcripts have not arrived yet.
I am strongly considering applying to LSU but the deadline for scholarship consideration has passed. Any suggestions?

Well, you’ll get in.

You should even have a shot at some scholarships if you do well during your first year.

But basically, LSU, even at full price, is going to be a hell of a lot cheaper than UT. I believe full price for out of state student is currently around $7,200 per semester. That’s tuition and fees, but not room and board. For room and board, I believe you can estimate about $2400+$1500, for a total of:

$11,100 per semester, full price, with no scholarship whatsoever. Which is about the same you’d pay for UT. The difference is that you should be able to pick up quite a few scholarships after your first year or semester at LSU, whereas at UT, that may not be the case.

In any case, the application is super easy and pretty cheap, so I’d suggest giving it a shot if you’re at all interested.

Thanks! I will apply and see what happens.
