Should I bring a bike to Cal Poly?

In the following year, I am going to be living in the on campus apartment. Being that there are a lot of hills at Cal Poly, do you think I should still bring a bike anyways? I wouldn’t consider myself to be a strong bike rider, but I do like to get exercise.

Thanks.

I was wondering the same thing, as I could also use a bit more exercise. Here is a post that I posted a while back that might help you

I will also be living in the dorms. I decided I’m definitely going to bring me bike.

The answer is YES! You will not only need a bike to get to class on time, but it will also be your primary mode of transportation other than your legs. Bring a used, but good quality mountain bike that can handle being locked up outdoors. Get a U lock and a cable. Make sure that the seat can handle rain and bad weather.

I had a speed bike, but I recently had its gears changed to a fixed gear. I dont think this bike will be suitable for all those hills but I might just end up taking it either way. In addition If you’re an incoming freshmen with no car, like me >.<, a bike is probably your best bet to be able to enjoy SLO and its neighboring areas.

Bring the bike no matter what…if you use it more power to you. If you don’t, you can always sell it and get a better one via Craigslist or bike kitchen, etc. I am SO glad I decided to get a bike this year as I am in summer school and it helps me get around campus efficiently. YES there are hills but it gets your heart pumping and alert for class  they aren’t that bad, unless you’re biking up to the arboretum or from highland to the residence halls. there are a lot of paths and shortcuts that you’ll find to get from place to place once you familiarize yourself.
