I'm a freshman deciding between mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering. Since I had a lot of AP credits from HS and am unsure of my interests, I plan to take intermediate physics, more comp sci, higher math (analysis, PDE, complex functions etc), and couple of core classes from each discipline to help me decide during sophomore year.

Alternatively, I can force myself to make up my mind now and focus on just one discipline, which would let me finish in about three years instead of four.

So, should I take the extra year to learn extra math, physics and comp sci, as well as to broaden my engineering background? I'm definitely going to grad school and aiming for RD jobs. I feel somewhat guilty of studying for an extra year instead of working and repaying my parents...

Thanks guys :)
