I want to purchase a Macbook Air and an IPad mini for college but I'm not sure where to get it from. Is it better to purchase it through my school (Dartmouth College) or at my local Apple store on Long Island?

Use this link [Find Your School in the Apple Education Store - Apple Store (U.S.)](Education Pricing and Student Discounts - Education - Apple)

You should get 100$ gift card for the macbook and 50$ for the ipad + an education discount (intially 50-100$ off the air and upgrades are like 5-10% off)

You also get around a 70$ discount on apple care

I second the above. I got my iPad from the Apple Education store. Even though I don’t think you can beat on campus stores versus a UPS guy, the deal is much greater. The gift card is very handy. I bought, a few games, Pages (awesome for tapping out short things) and iPhoto(incredibly powerful photo editor, at least for the iPad)

I purchased a MacBook Pro for college a few days ago. I already had the iPad mini. I got $200 off the laptop, $100 itunes gift card and around $70 off of Apple Care and 1 year free apple care. I bought mine at the apple retail store and just let them know I was a student. I think it was a pretty good deal.
