Should I Cancel CompSci?

Okay so here's the deal, I just got my score back for the AP Computer Science exam; I got a four. I know that a four is nothing to be ashamed about, but I'm thinking about canceling it.

I took the AP class that my school offers this year and my average was a 100, this is in a class where kids receive notoriously low grades.

A four does not line up with my other compsci activites, I intend to major in compsci so a lot of my extracurriculars revolve around it.

Would it be a good idea to cancel the score and take it next year? I know I can get a five, but if it's not significant to colleges then I won't bother.

I plan on applying to really selective schools like MIT, Caltech, and CMU.

Thanks in advance

No reason at all to do that. First of all, those colleges are so selective they might not even accept scores for credit, and second if Comp. Sci. is your major you would almost definitely have to take it regardless. Last, for comp. sci. A test, most colleges treat 3-5 as the same.

I was just worried that they would look at it in admissions and it would somehow devalue all of my compsci activities. I took the test as a sophomore. CMU gives credit for a 4 or 5, but the others don’t even give for a 5 so that gives me some hope.

Retake it next year. It’s good that you’re a sophomore because you get to retake before college admissions time.

Will it look weird that I took the test a year after the class though?

Eh don’t worry about it. If they ask you…make up a good excuse lol.

You couldn’t cancel it if you wanted anyways.
It is no longer an option after you see the score.

I can cancel it any time because no one will see this year’s score report. I think I want to retake it, I made the stupidest mistakes and it’s just not an accurate representation.

Do not cancel… Clearly you are very talented and a 4 is better than nothing at all. I was interested in USACO and comp sci research… How long did it take for you to get into silver division?

Definitely don’t cancel. It’s not worth losing credits over and it’s also just a really elitist thing to do. I know you’ve earned the right to be an elitist when it comes to CS, but there’s nothing wrong with a 4 (unless you’re going where I am, in which case it’s the only frigging test they require a 5 on for credit!).

don’t cancel.

Just take it next year, if you dont feel you got a 5 cancel that one.

The best thing to do by far is to make an account on the training pages and just go through the problems. The contest season starts in november so you’ll want to train before then. It all depends on how fast you are at the problems because you learn a lot as you progress.

OK! Also, I will message you about something.
