Should I cancel my score?

Ok, the only reason I retook the January SAT was because I made 2 stupid mistakes on the math section of the Dec SAT, and math is my strong suit.

Dec SAT score: (800 CR, 800 W, 770 M)

I was trying to get an 800 M this time around, but I missed potentially one or two questions due to really really stupid mistakes, even though the math section is always cake for me.

Also, I kinda ran out of time on my essay (I was on the third body paragraph) even though I think I might've gotten perfect on the multiple choice.

Do you think I should cancel my scores? Because I'm not sure if I got an 800 on the Math or not, and if I didn't, I would both feel and look stupid...its the only reason I retook the SATs

Thanks!

You shouldn’t have retaken in the first place.

^what hopter said.

i’m not sure what colleges you’re applying to, but i’m sure they see overzealous perfectionism as a character flaw. you did absolutely fine 1st time, the difference between 2370 and 2400 is negligible, even if they may superficially appear to be leagues apart

^I’m afraid I have to agree.

I mean, I fully understand why the non-800 might have bothered you, but at the same time, colleges may think you’re a little bit obsessive about something that has relatively (okay, it does in the admissions process, but not much in the real world) little value.

Although you’ve already sat through the testing…it would likely be better to cancel. A 2400 doesn’t say much more than a 2370. Spending an extra 4 hours in testing for 30 more points, though, could potentially say a lot to the colleges about your priorities/character.

Don’t cancel them. 99% of colleges will combine your scores.

thanks guys for the advice!
yeah…I was originally happy with a 2370, but since I’m planning to be a math major, I was afraid that having a 770 in math would be detrimental…
I think I’ll cancel though (and since I had finals last week, I had only 2 days to prepare for this SAT…so I don’t think I scored as high as last time!)
Thanks again!
