I took AP Euro like a couple of days ago, and I know I did terrible because I basically left 13 MC blank and I'm so sure that I got like 20 wrong and I practically BSd all of my FRQ/DBQs. So I think I'm gonna get a 1 or 2 at best...should I cancel my score??

I don’t think you should cancel your scores. Many people come out of that testing score feeling like they failed. The curve is VERY lenient.

Multiple choice: [(number correct) - (.25 x number wrong)] x 1.125
DBQ: (raw score out of 9) x 4.5
FRQ: (raw score out of 9) x 2.75
FRQ: (raw score out of 9) x 2.75

Score of 5: 120-180
Score of 4: 99-119
Score of 3: 67-99

I took ap euro last year and i understand how you feel. I really considered canceling my scores, but i didn’t-mostly because i was curious and most colleges don’t even consider the scores. BUT, i got a 4.

I don’t think you should cancel the scores. If you’re a senior scores don’t really matter at this point, and if not you can always not report the scores. AP scores don’t really count for much. Also, I know someone who left 21 MC blank on the bio AP (not the same test I realize, but AP’s all have a pretty lenient curve) and got a 5.

I took the World History test couple years ago. I knew next to nothing, learned a year course in a week, and BS-ed all the FRQ’s. I ended up getting a 4. And usually people walk out of the test thinking they did horrible, even people who get 5’s.

Also, if you think the test was hard, the chances are the other people think the same. People on CC don’t exactly represent the entire population that take AP tests.

No! There’s still a chance you got a 3, and you don’t want to waste it.

Colleges aren’t going to frown upon a 1 on an AP exam. Think about it - would they rather see you take the exam and get a 1 or not take it at all?

Nah, they won’t care either way. AP scores have very little effect in the admissions process, they really don’t matter until you use them for college credit.

i have been curious, and you seem to know enough…

if i decide to not send in any of my ap scores… what happens when a college sees on my transcript that i got A’s and A+'s in AP Chem, AP Calc, and AP Eng Lang, yet i didnt report my scores. would they become suspicious in any way shape or form? do they expect ap test scores from those who took the courses?

Didn’t say that. Better comparison would be taking 13 AP courses and no exams or 13 AP courses and getting all 1’s.

Although that might raise an issue…if you’re only getting 1’s on the exams but doing well in the courses, something fishy is going on. For 13 exams, that is. For 1 or 2 exams, it won’t be an issue.

Colleges won’t be suspicious at all if they don’t get exam scores. A lot of people take the course but not the exam.

Admissions people don’t really look at AP scores. SAT/ACT scores-yes, a lot. But they’re more interested in the classes you’ve taken than the scores you got on the AP exam.

My opinion comes from:
-The fact that I got a 1 on an AP exam and it didn’t negatively impact me at all.
-I know someone who works in admissions at a university.

Besides, are you actually reporting scores to colleges during your sophomore or junior year? There’s no reason to. The important time is to send your scores after your senior year, and by then, you’re already into your schools.

i’m not reporting my scores this year (junior)… but i’m saying on applications there is an area where you write down any AP tests you took and the scores you got on them… so i was jw

If it makes you feel any better, I didn’t answer around 11 MC questions or so on AP Euro, either (took it last Friday)! But I wouldn’t cancel my score; you can always pay the $10 to withhold it if need be, and I’m sure it won’t affect admissions in the slightest!

Yes, obviously APs do factor into college admissions. I would certainly NOT cancel becasue a) the curve is usually very lenient and b) you never have to report that score. The good thing about APs, especially as a Sophmore or Junior is if you get a bad grade, you can choose to be the only one who ever sees that grade (besides your school) even after the fact-like the new SAT score choice policy. If you’re a Senior you’re probably into college already so it doesn’t matter. Nobody should ever cancel an AP score. It’s just stupid.
