I'm not the greatest student in my school, but I am in the top 2% out of 800 kids. I was in the top 10 but i made stupid mistakes which i regret but who doesnt? My parents keep bothering me and comparing to kids who do better than me but they don't understand that they cheated their way up there and it wont help when they get into college. Should I care about how they think about me?

Lmao. Here’s the short answer, no.

Longer answer: first off, parents who compare you to other students with a better grade are just plain sad. It’s not motivation, it’s degradation. Ridiculous that you have to deal with it.
Secondly, your parents don’t know the other kids. How they appear to an adult versus how they appear to someone in their age group, it’s like polar opposites.
Thirdly, don’t worry about what anyone thinks. Most peoples opinions don’t matter because they don’t affect you. When they start to mean more to you than your own feelings, then I would start to worry because it would seem that your parents got what they wanted.
Lastly, just do your best and forget the rest. #YOLO

^ LOVE THIS GUY. (dan, dan, dan)

Okay, seriously I guess I’ll just try and reinforce what he just said:
Disregard peoples’ opinions. That sounds bad and whatever at first, but do other peoples’ opinions (even if they’re your parents’) really mean anything? Your parents don’t know exactly what goes on at your school and what it’s like being a student at your high school. They’re probably just trying to help you, but they’re probably actually not. Just don’t give their opinion any weight and don’t let it affect you. Live for yourself, everyone. xoxo.

And being in the top 2% is good.

lol no forget them. be happy you are in the top 2% …wish i was LOL

you may want to care about what they say, they are your parents. although there’s always people better somewhere so they are being a little inconsiderate, but what can you do, some people will always be a certain way
