Hi everyone,
I am a 3rd year at UCSD and am currently majoring in electrical engineering. My GPA is currently a 2.616, which I know is very low. I am wondering whether I should switch to a different major, knowing that it will be much easier to boost my GPA, or stay with EE and trying to increase my GPA. I know internships look at GPA to see if they will hire you as well as jobs, so with a GPA below 3.0 I probably don't stand a chance right? Hopefully I can get some feedback, thanks.

You definitely need at least above a 3.0 for a decent engineering internship. Try retaking a few classes that are bringing down your GPA.

Are you allowed to retake classes in which you’ve received a C or higher?

Do you actually enjoy EE? Its not an easy major to be in. If your answer was yes, then stick in EE because you will find a job and you will make money since you possess a skill.

GPA isnt the end of the world, you can prove that you know what u are talking about with a good interview. What major would you switch into? I wouldnt do it just for the GPA.

@phufool: nope.

you should really enjoy the major you pick, and while almost nobody’s going to get a 4.0, i think that you’ll find classes significantly more interesting (and more doable) if you’re into it.
