Should I choose CSU Long Beach or UCI for Civil Engineering?

I'm going to transfer next year. And I think I will go for engineering major. Currently, I'm still not really sure what kind of Engineering I should follow: Civil / Medical/ or Mechanical. I heard that UCI engineering isn't that really good, and I don't really know the ranking about CSU Long Beach. If I go for Civil Engineering, which one should I choose between? Also, I'm thinking about going to Grad School also, and CSU Long Beach also offers Grad School for Civil as well.

For what it’s worth:

I’m a 4th year Civil Engineering student at UCI. It’s a great school for engineering, very dedicated with research and facilities / opportunities for undergraduate research. (Looks GREAT when applying for Grad school). UCI’s Engineering is VERY competitive. I consider myself average amongst a lot of the students, and Prof. are always bringing in Professionals to lecture to the students about the field. If you were to go to UCI, I assure you would receive a top notch engineering education! Let me know if you have any specific questions about UCI’s Engineering school, I will do my best to answer them.

My personal feelings; I will always choose UC’s over CSU’s, (With the exception of Cal Poly’s for Engineering). UC’s carry more weight on the resume in my opinion.

If you don’t want to do research, in all honesty, the Cal States are good. You will get a job, plus, you will grad with a whole lot less debt.

If you want to do research, that’s what the UC’s are for, and go there.

As long as its ABET accredited, it really doesn’t matter. I know aerospace majors that grad from CSULB and got hired by Boeing.
