Should I choose special interest housing or regular dorms?

I will be a first-year pharmacy student in September (anyone know the move-in date), and I'll be going there not knowing anyone. I haven't really filled out my housing application, so I was wondering about a few things. What would be the best dorm to live in? Should I apply for special interest housing? I will end up with a random roommate no matter what so I don't know. Which campus is best for me to live on? I kind of want the college experience of normal housing, but the special interest housing seems like a lot of fun too.

Thank you!

Most freshmen are going to move in on September first. It is suggested that all of the Pharmacy students request to live on Busch or Livingston, since the department is located on Busch. I’ve heard that during the first two years the general classes will be more spread out across all of the campuses so if you did want to live somewhere else, you could make it work.

The only thing I would say about special interest housing is that it may take away from your pharmacy studies. For example, if you live in some special interest housing for Philosophy you’d be required to go to meeting and events related to philosophy, even if you need to study. If you are going to try for special interest housing, you should stick to the science ones (like BEST) unless it is something that you’re very interested in.
