So I’m planning on majoring in mechanical engineering or perhaps maybe in computer science and engineering but I was wondering if you guys recommend that I declare a minor? I was thinking I could minor in management and business economics? Would this minor help me stand out when applying to jobs or for grad school? As far as what I want to do at this point I’m not sure, I originally wanted to work at a medical device company but then was attracted to software development but as of right now I’m unsure, what do you guys think?
hey @19Alex99, a minor is something i would only declare if you are really interested in that field of study and want to pursue it aside from your major. professional schools and graduate schools aren’t too particular about minors, so I would recommend pursuing opportunities that would get you more experience in the area you want. for example I would contact people who are employed at medical device companies and ask them about what experiences led them to their career path.
