Should I do early action or regular decision at JMU?

I cannot decide whether to apply early action or regular decision at JMU. I would like to be considered for scholarships.

My stats as of now are:

GPA: 3.7 unweighted 4.02 weighted rank 75/623

ACT:
30 composite
34 English
28 Math
27 Reading
31 Science
9 writing

I am retaking my ACT on October 24 multiple choice only. My GPA can go up to a 4.2 weighted and 3.79 unweighted if I do well senior year and this will bring me up to top 10% surely.

I feel my stats as they stand aren’t strong enough for any significant scholarships. I don’t have any significant EC’s that could add to them either. What are your suggestions? Strengthen my stats and apply regular decision or apply EA?

Also, if anybody knows if my October 24 ACT scores will arrive to JMU on time to be considered for EA please let me know!

The largest scholarship that JMU has to offer that is not need based is the Dingledine, and it requires EA application, and a separate application.

There are some smaller scholarships, many with a departmental or major componant, that will consider RD.

The 30 composite is not bad at all, but if you are concerned contact JMU to see if they will consider your October 24 scores if you apply EA?

Unfortunately, JMU does not have a lot of large scholarships available.

Good luck!
