JMU is my first choice but I am soooooooooo nervous. I have a 3.6 weighted gpa and got a 1270/ 1910 combined score on my sats. I applied early action and played soccer and basketball for my high school until I hurt my knee, but I coach rec. basketball now. I go to a large competitive public high school in pittsburgh, but am planning on getting in state tuition because I used to live in VA (my dad still does) and my parents did the va prepaid education program. What does everyone think of my chances? I am really nervous but would love some honest opinions.

3.1 unweighted gpa fyi... is taht gonna hurt??

You have a great SAT score, but your GPA is a little low. Do you know what your class rank is? If your in the top 25% of your class, that will be a big help. I think with a strong personal statement & recommendation you have a good shot of getting in!

i agree with tilohnine! Your SAT score is very good for JMU, but your unweighted GPA is low. Your class rank will definitely help you if are in the top 25% or so. You have a really good shot!
Good Luck :)

thanks everyone. my school got rid of class rank because it is so competitive and just hurt students at my school.

anyone else? i think my guidance counselor gave me a good rec. and my peronal statement is decent

also...
does JMU combine ur best SAT scores???

Regarding the SAT policy. I copied this from their web site. I guess they don't consider writing scores:

Performance on the SAT I or ACT helps the committee discern applicants' past academic achievement and their potential for future academic achievement.

JMU accepts and recognizes both the SAT and ACT, we ask that you send all of your scores. When reviewing test scores we use the highest individual verbal and highest individual math scores from the SAT. For the ACT we use your single highest composite score.
