<p>So my scores are pretty boderline for IU. I have a 3.1(big upward trend 2.46-3.0-3.8) and i'm a URM(black) and i'm retaking my ACT and I'm hoping for like around a 27+. I'm not 100% sure if I should do the essay or not because I want to save time. Do you guys think with my stats I should do the essay or not??</p>
<p>You don’t say what your current ACT score is so, better safe than sorry…do the essay.</p>

<p>There is no essay topic. You are able to write about whatever floats your boat and submit it as your “writing sample.”</p>

<p>If you feel your stats are borderline for acceptance, than yes I would consider it recommended. Likewise, if you exceed the averages significantly (GPA, ACT, ect), it is unlikely to help you in anyway.</p>
