Should I drop a class second semester?

Hello, I am currently a senior in high school. I am currently having a predicament with my physics class(normal, not AP); I am struggling as I have a B in that class but I am scared my grade will drop even further to a C, something I have never gotten before. I was thinking of dropping the class my second semester not only because of my grade, but the class also takes a lot of my time and stress on my part.

I am also taking seven classes right now, four of which are AP classes(AP English Lit, AP research, AP Art, and AP Statistics). I should note that I am planning on majoring in business, not a STEM-related major so I don’t know how that would affect anything regarding college decisions.

I am going to wait until the end of the semester before I make my decision, but I wanted to have some input because I feel like I am definitely overthinking this situation and I feel more conflicted about it as time goes by. I am hoping that I end up passing that class with a B or an A, but I wanted to drop that class out of prioritizing my mental health because it is the class that I am stressed the most over and I feel that if I did drop the class, I could have time to improve my work in other classes. Would it look strange if I dropped a class second semester despite getting a decent grade?

Yes, it would certainly look strange. Where are you in the admissions process?

I don’t think I’ve ever heard an offer rescinded for a C. I don’t think I’ve heard of someone dropping a core course, but I would imagine it would be received more poorly than a C.

Is it a full year class? Would your school simply let you drop out of a full year class? You would not be allowed to drop half way through the year at my kids high school.

  1. If you feel your mental health is at risk see out professional help immediately.
  2. Would it even be possible to drop the class.after one semester of a year long class? Out HS would not allow it.
  3. You would have to notify every college you applied to that you dropped the class (or any acceptance would be subject to being rescinded). IMO finishing the class with a C would be better.
